HP Laptop Boot Up Problem hang and freeze - black screen

Friday, August 20, 2010

Laptop always hang after you boot up your computer, no BIOS, just a black screen. sometimes you can see the light blinking and then after that it's just freeze with no sounds from the BIOS.

probably it's the Monitor / Graphic card issue (you will hear some sound as well), check the hard disk light if it's not working then probably is not monitor or graphic card issue.

To solve the second one the HP laptop cannot enter BIOS, Freeze with black screen when you boot up your laptop, do the following:

1. Take out the laptop's battery
2. Take off the Power Supply from your adapter as well
3. Press the power button for 30 seconds.

Put everything back and it will work like a charm.

If it doesnt work maybe you can try to call the HP service centre to get your motherboard replaced.

hp 8440p docking station problems Black Screen After Boot Up Windows XP

Thursday, August 19, 2010

this is the old solution:

HP Docking Station Elite 8440p Black Screen After Boot Up Windows XP

This is the latest solution

The latest HP 8440P bios F0.B has been released and fixes a number of issues with the 8440P laptop. I’ve tested this on my new laptop with great success.

The fixes include:

•    No more black screen when starting the machine on a docking station (you don’t have to disable the serial port anymore in the bios)
•    Extremely noisy fan when you bring the machine back from sleep / hibernation
•    VT problem (when you enable VT it's not possible to do a warm reboot)

The update should be performed from a USB stick not from within windows:

Windows XP SP 3 performing cleanup service pack 3 taking a long time

Windows XP SP 3 performing cleanup service pack 3 taking a long time or freeze ... or the "performing cleanup" hang ...

I tried it and it's work (if you can just wait .... maybe 3-4 hours who knows but personally I think it's safer that way)

If you are a risk taker or simply cannot wait the performing cleanup at the final stage of the SP 3 upgrade installation ...

or if you are like me waited for 2 hours and fed up ... then you have 2 options

1. Stop the services (you can just go to task manager and stop the update.exe) or just hit the restart button, when it  ask to end the program just do it.

2. Just press the power button for 10 seconds to shut it down

I did the first one and everything looks fine now.

How to check if my windows xp sp3 upgraded successfully?
go to my computer right click on it choose properties you should see SP 3 over there...

then congrats ...

How to insert a pdf page in Adobe reader 9?

the answer is that no, you can't

Can I edit a PDF file using Adobe Reader? No. You cannot make permanent changes to PDF files using Adobe Reader. However, you can perform many edit-like functions using Reader if the author has enabled these functions. For example, you can highlight text and add comments on electronic sticky notes. If you want to create and exchange documents, collect and compare comments, and tailor file security to distribute reliable and polished Adobe PDF documents, look into using Acrobat.
